The Case of Calcium Chloride Desiccant for Electric Motors
Nov 30,2022 | Bond
In Nov 2018, we received an inquiry from France.
Hello, we import some motors, we used silica gel desiccant before, even if we changed from a small bag to a big bag, sometimes the machine will still have moisture, do you have any good way?(original language is French, translated by Bond)
People in the machinery industry know that humidity and moisture significantly impact the performance of electric motors. If the engines stay inactive for extended periods, they must be kept warm. Failing to do so will cause the motors to drop near the dew point temperature, and moisture may even lead to an insulation failure. There will be various risks that are caused by the moisture-and-dirt combination.
After more communication, we found out why this customer used silica gel desiccant would fail; firstly, the carton containing the motor is bigger, but the airtightness is not good. Secondly, it takes longer to transport in the sea and is likely to be affected by container rain. Finally, their silica desiccant cannot reach the requirement of moisture absorption rate, which can only get 15%, while the high-quality silica gel can reach 30%.
We recommended thicker cartons with better sealing, and our calcium chloride desiccant with 300% moisture absorption rate of 25g, 105 mm*125 mm, can ensure the machine will not be affected by moisture.
If you have similar needs, please get in touch with us, and we will customize the moisture absorber solution to meet your specific requirements.
