The Case of Calcium Chloride Desiccant for Security Cameras

Nov 30,2022 | Bond

In Dec 2018, we received an inquiry from the USA.

Good morning, Absorb King, we have lots of security cameras stored in the warehouse for long time, and we found that the inside part of the cameras lenses have being uniformly coated with a layer of fine dust, and look like they are not transparent and affecting the quality of photography, and there is still some moisture when we take them apart, can the desiccant be used in the lenses?

Yes, moisture will gather on the camera lens when dramatic temperature and humidity change and the camera is unprotected from the elements, when the camera hits that dramatic change of air, condensation forms while the temperature regulates….which can affect the quality of photography.

Our customers ask us if this affects the quality of the product, and we tell them to take it easy. Usually, a few rounds of condensation won’t ruin your camera, nor will your lens fogging up cause any permanent damage. However, you should take some easy steps to prevent this from becoming a habit. Too many cycles can begin to wear on your gear, especially internal mechanisms.

After more communication, our product experts learned that his warehouse is more humidity because it is underground, and the structure of the security camera is not entirely sealed space so that moisture can affect the lens; we recommended him a small package of calcium chloride desiccant placed inside the security camera, he can last from 3 to 6 months, the customer was satisfied after buying and testing and placed a bulk order.
